The Ages pseudo-genre consist of games where the tech-tree tiering is usually split into concrete epochs of time commonly referred as Ages. The difference with this tiering model is that each new tier step up is permanent and doesnt depend on the existence of a given structure to remain as it is - there is no way to set your swordsmen back to clubmen, among other things.
